The whole thing about changing and it being forced or fake is a little harsh though. Surely it's clearly in pursuit of artistic integrity and creating a wide spectrum of sound to work within. Jacoby has always stated how moving towards a unique rock sound was Papa Roach's intention. If you look back at the albums it's clear that they've all been a very natural evolution from one to another, there hasn't been a Radiohead situation anyway.

True. I never meant it that i thought they might be changing for record sales or something similar, not at all (they could have milked the rap-metal thing and made further millions of $). I'm sure it was in pursuit of artistic integrity. When i say false, what i mean is that it just seems to me that maybe instead of writing what comes naturally to them they might be kinda forcing change upon themselves. But again as i said, i'm just putting that forward as a possibility, not saying i think this is definitely the case. In reality i know jack shit of the situation, so i shouldn't judge. I only latched onto it because Jacoby often made a point in interviews of talking about how much they evolve, so i got suspicious!
Actually the more i think about it, i think i'm probably completely wrong. I'm over-analysing it most likely. Never mind! Point retracted!

ok, everybody is entitled to his or her opinion, but this post makes me wonder...how exactly is the -production quality- of MTMPS very weak??

@Edacious I have no clue what that says and have no desire to find out

I thought Metamorphosis sounds flat.. I dunno, just lifeless. the drums sound way too quiet for my liking everything sounds soo stripped down. I like the songs live alot. they are a different beast when they are live.

Random info:
The #1 album of 2010 was Taylor Swift "Fearless." Her "total sales" according to Rolling Stone Magazine were 2,604,000. Jay-Z moved 1,393,000 and Nickelback came in at #10 with 1,223,000. I remember when people would sell that much in one day. *cue Bob Dylan*

MAybe Rolling Stone should work on getting their facts right. Its true that fearless was the no.1 album in the U.S., but actual numbers are:

#1. BGMA // SWIFT-TAYLOR ---FEARLESS 3,216,988
#2. COL // BOYLE -SUSAN ---I DREAMED A DREAM 3,103,828

Nickelback ist #11. with 1,368,352
right behind Kings of Leon and Jay Z on #9

Fucking hell, Susan Boyle managed to shift almost the same amount in a month as Taylor Swift did in over a year.

And Lorraine, you meant 2009, right?

D'oh! Yes I meant 2009. The issue I was looking at was from 2010. My bad.

No actually when you put it that way it does make sense, I can see how the band would be putting to much pressure on themselves to change their style. Really from what I can get from it all throughout the years is Metamorphosis is where they've been trying to get to. I think it's a pretty natural evolution from the previous records as well, and has the least change from TPS.

If the next record is a stronger (which isn't putting Metamorphosis down) version of Metamorphosis, or continuing that style then it'd all make sense. Still we've just got to wait for now. It'll be interesting to see how it sounds with Tony this time round, given they've had a lot longer together now than when they recorded with him before.

I'm actually really shocked, I counted Metamorphosis as one of their most commercial albums to date. The singles are as catchy as hell and it seems like it could have been appealing to even those who don't go out of their way to find out what's happening on the rock/metal music scene. I had high hopes for this album because proach really has that old 'pizazz' and 'charisma' back that I felt was lacking on TPS. I think from what I see of the people around me is that hardly anybody really wants to go out of their way anymore to find out what's new unless it's spoon fed to them via the digital music charts, but that's a different argument. Ergggh.
