Devil is a cool track , , and gravity , apart from the AWFUL verses , is this the same guy that rapped on "Infest"

this is pretty negative , , but Papa roach need to get some balls back in their music

infest / LHT / GAWM

amazing albums and I will never forget them for those

but everything Post GAWM sounds like a watered down version of p roach

a few songs here and there not to bad , but the guitar is so weak now , jacoby never wrote the deepest lyrics but they felt like they had meaning , now its the same words / rhymes over and over

someone on another forum stated P roach are like the new bon jovi , , and I agree : (

they will ALLWAYS put on a killer live show , but the more albums they make , the more watered down songs will slip in to their set list

sorry to be so negative , , just my feelings

I thought my previous post was a little negative , so I decided to go back and listen to the WHOLE P roach back catalogue since GAWM

I still stand by my original statement , they had way more edge to them on Infest / LHT / GAWM , but that doesn't mean to say the newer albums are total rubbish , , that would be unfair

Paramour Sessions - "My heart is a fist" "I devise my demise" "no more secrets"
Metamorphosis - "change or die" "life line" "in to the light"
the Connection - "where did the angels go" "wont let up"
FEAR - "Devil"

all these songs have vibes of original Papa roach IMO , whether it be a big Riff , Jacobi's vocals ,
I know its all about evolving , and they have stayed current , still going strong , put on a great LIVE show

but I still feel they have evolved in to watered down poppy band always trying to make "Anthems" , Jacobi's lyrics were never the deepest , but they packed emotion , now they are just a bit cringe sometimes , and the riffs / drums / grooves just don't KICK / STAND OUT like they used to.

I feel they still have the knowhow and passion to make a album as heavy / aggressive like the earlier days , but wont take that chance as it may affect sales / them being in the public eye , and fair play to them for that.

maybe they peaked early , one things for sure , there not going anywhere soon , for every guy pushing 30 (like me lol) that used to love them , im sure there are 100 newer fans , that just know / enjoy the newer material

I agree that I like the more edgy older stuff more than the newer stuff, though I do like it all. In their defense though, when they get out there and play live, the the newer softer stuff sounds a lot heavier and angrier than it does on the record.

Papa Roach has always been a better live band than anything, that's been true since Cacabonita.
When I first heard them on 98 Rock, I wondered why they were playing rap on a rock station. The first time I saw them (opening for Staind and Kid Rock) I remember actually laughing and remarking to whoever I was there with that I couldnt believe that there were people there with Papa Roach T-shirts on. I wasn't laughing after the show...the energy they bring live just overwhelms any other opinions of what they're playing.

It's really more about the attitude and energy than about the music itself for me, they've always brought both at all the shows I've been to with the exception of a couple stadium/arena shows back in the Infest era. They don't do nearly as well when they're so separated from the fans like that. The theatres and such that they're playing right now are really the perfect size and type venue for their style.

I think that I'm allowed to disagree with you.

WTF are you listening to that is so "heavy"? Are you against hooks and melody or something?

Awful verses in Gravity? Are we listening to the same band? Because Gravity sounds like a track that a man poured his heart and soul into and let it all out. From the brutal honesty, to the way he delivered the verses, to the way his voice slightly cracked after Maria's verse- there's nothing awful about it.

We are in 2015. If you haven't realized, their style has evolved. So that means the way Jacoby lays out a rap can be different from the way he'd do it 15 years ago. Also, when the hell has his rapping ever stayed the same anyways? The way he raps on Infest vs. songs like SLMN, Won't Let Up, and now Gravity are all different.

And by the way, it is the same guy that rapped on Infest. Cus 15 years later, he can still lay it down like no other and sounds better than ever.

Diversity?! What a crazy thing for an artist to possess.

It's not. Not at all. I won't even get started on this. But please refer back to: FEAR, Broken As Me, Falling Apart, Warriors.

LOL. I'll just leave this here.

They do. And they keep doing it, 15 years later with albums like The Connection and FEAR.

Sorry to be so positive, but those are just my feelings.

I am not against hooks with melody , , I am against every single hook being stadium ready , singalong , and anthem like , , melody is not a problem

I listen to all types of music , but mainly rock / metal
